Message from the Tribunal Chair, LSBC Tribunal
January 3, 2023
I am pleased to have been appointed the first Tribunal Chair who is not a Bencher. I am pleased to see the steps taken by the Benchers to enhance the independence of the Law Society Tribunal.
There are a number of issues I plan to address in the coming months.
I will convene the first session of the Chairs Roundtable in the next few months. We will be looking for counsel who regularly act for licensees, as well as members of the public who have had experience with the tribunal to participate in the Chairs Roundtable. I think this will yield valuable insights for us.
I look forward to receiving the Report from the Indigenous Engagement in Regulatory Matters Task Force and considering how to implement its recommendations.
I am sure there will be other matters that arise as I become more involved in the work of the Tribunal and the issues facing it. I will update this message from time to time as new matters arise.
I look forward to meeting all the adjudicators as we all do the important work of this Tribunal and am happy to receive any comments or suggestions from anyone concerning the Tribunal.
